If you have any questions, please click here to visit our Contact page.
Note: It is best to print these instructions. Also, as you go through the setup process, you will need to refer to the account information that we sent to you by email.
Downloading the Accelerator Setup Program:
Below, you will see an underlined link for the NatBlast Web Accelerator setup program. Click on the link to download the program.
After clicking on the link below, Internet Explorer users will see a box on the screen that says "What would you like to do with this file?". Choose "Save this program to disk" (or "Save") and click "OK".
Next, you should see the "Save As" box. Save the file to your "Desktop" folder (choose Desktop from the drop-down list next to "Save in", then click "Save").
Depending on your settings, you might see a "Download Complete" message. If so, click "Close".
Running the Setup Software:
The setup file should be on your desktop screen. The name of the file is "ss_setup.exe". Close any open programs, disconnect from the Internet, and double-click the file to start the setup program.
If Windows displays a security warning, click "Run".
The first thing you will see is a welcome screen. Click the "Next" button.
If you have a previous version of the Web Accelerator installed on your computer, you will be asked if you would like to remove it. Click "OK". When finished, restart your computer if asked to.
Check the box to agree to the license terms and click "Next".
Click "Next" again to install to the default directory.
Click "Finish".
- You will be asked to re-start your computer. You must re-start to complete the setup. Click "OK".
After your computer re-starts, you will be asked for your Username and Password. If not, you will be asked for this information the first time you use the Web Accelerator.
For the Username, enter your Dial-Up Username (Login Name), which ends with "@natblast.com" or "@natisp.com" (this information is in your email welcome message).
Enter your Dial-Up Password (this information is in your email welcome message).
Check the "Save Password" box and click "OK".
If you have a firewall program, you might be asked to allow access to the SlipStream service. You must permit access through your firewall for the Web Accelerator to work properly.
Using the NatBlast Web Accelerator:
Now that you have installed the Accelerator, it will run automatically.
The Accelerator will display a small icon at the bottom, right corner of your screen (on the Task Bar - near the time display). To access various functions and settings, right-click on the icon and you will see the menu options.
You can enable or disable the Web Accelerator at any time by right-clicking on the Task Bar icon, then clicking "Start SlipStream" or "Stop SlipStream". The Accelerator is disabled when a red "X" is displayed over the Accelerator icon.
To adjust your surfing speed, right-click on the Task Bar icon and click "Settings". You can adjust the slider to make the accelerator faster (which will reduce image quality somewhat) or slower (which will improve image quality). Note: When viewing a web page, if an image appears to be distorted, you can right-click on the image and click "Show Original Image" to revert to the original image quality.
If you use an email program, like Outlook Express, Eudora, or Mozilla Thunderbird, you can also accelerate your email. Right-click on the Task Bar icon and click "Settings". Then, click the "Features" tab. Check the box next to "POP3" and click OK.
You can accelerate your surfing even more by enabling "ad blocking". This will prevent certain advertisements from displaying on web pages. Right-click on the Task Bar icon and click "Settings". Then, click the "Features" tab. Check the box next to "Ad-Blocking" and click OK.
You can also block Macromedia Flash ads. These are animated advertisements that display over the top of web pages. Right-click on the Task Bar icon and click "Settings". Then, click the "Features" tab. Check the box next to "Macromedia Flash" and click OK. Because many entertainment and game sites use Macromedia Flash, we recommend leaving this box un-checked unless you are sure you don't want this type of content.
You can check the performance of the Web Accelerator at any time by right-clicking on the Task Bar icon and clicking "Statistics".
